Why does a good thread create a DM backlog you can't clear?
A thread that performs well is the whole point of building on X, it's proof your writing works. But every good thread converts into a wave of DMs asking the same handful of questions: what do you charge, do you write threads or just newsletters, are you taking new clients, can I see more examples. Answering each one by hand, one at a time, between drafts for paying clients, is the actual bottleneck, not the writing.
The DMs that go unanswered longest aren't the vague ones. They're the specific, ready-to-pay ones that deserve a fast reply and don't get one, because they arrived at the same time as twenty vaguer messages and no fixed order to work through them in. By the time you reply, some of them have already booked with whoever answered first.
